It's another busy week in Northern Minnesota. Here are some events to check out:
Monday, Oct. 7
- Brown Bag Author Visit with Jill Hannah Anderson - noon at Brainerd Public Library. Presented by the Friends of the Brainerd Public Library, Anderson will talk about her book Closer to Home.
- zAmya Theater Project presents A Prairie Homeless Companion - 6:30 p.m. at Minnesota North Itasca campus in Grand Rapids
Tuesday, Oct. 8
- Panel discussion on the opioid epidemic - 6 p.m. at Walker-Hackensack-Akeley High School auditorium in Walker (enter at Door No. 4). Topics will include drug prevention, treatment and recovery, harm reduction, and how the public can help our communities. The public is invited to ask panel questions during the forum. Naloxone (Narcan) will be available with training provided at no cost to those in attendance. Refreshments will be served. Intended audience is for adults and older youths.

Wednesday, Oct. 9
- Grand Rapids School Board Forum - 6:30 p.m. meet and greet, with forum at 7 p.m. This is a partnership between KAXE and ICTV with support from the Grand Rapids Bigfork Local 1314 Education Minnesota. Thursday, Oct. 10
- Superior National Forest open house - 4 to 6 p.m. at LaCroix district office near Cook. Staff will be available to discuss recent projects, plus there will be games, door prizes and more.
- Classic Movie Series showing All the President's Men - 6:30 p.m. at the Edge Center for the Arts in Bigfork
- Ash basket making demonstration - 6:30 p.m. at Rail River Folk School in Bemidji
- zAmya Theater Project presents A Prairie Homeless Companion - 6:30 p.m. at Minnesota North Mesabi Range campus in Virginia
Friday, Oct. 11
- zAmya Theater Project presents A Prairie Homeless Companion - 7 p.m. at Wild Rose Theater in Puposky
- Grand Rapids Players present Dracula, A Comedy of Terrors - 7 p.m. in the Ives Studio Theater at the Reif Center in Grand Rapids
Saturday, Oct. 12
- Northwoods Maker's Market - 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Beltrami Electric Co-op in Bemidji, with over 80 vendors and a kids' zone with games, pumpkin decorating and more. Proceeds benefit United Way of Bemidji Area.
- Pine River Market Square, a local growers and crafter's market - 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Warehouse in Pine River
- Grand Rapids Players present Dracula, A Comedy of Terrors - 7 p.m. in the Ives Studio Theater at the Reif Center in Grand Rapids
Sunday, Oct. 13
- Buck Lake Improvement Club's Halloween-themed breakfast buffet - 9 a.m. to noon at Buck Lake Community Center, located 12 miles north of Nashwauk on Highway 65
- Bemidji Symphony Orchestra concert - 3 p.m. at Bemidji High School auditorium. It's a celebration of Dr. Beverly Everett's 20th season. A reception follows at Ruttger's Birchmont Lodge from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
