We're gearing up for Grand Rapids Riverfest on Saturday, Sept. 7, and we want to know the best live music you've experienced.
Here's what we heard:
A listener from Brainerd said, "I had the pleasure of seeing the late, great Tom Petty at the old Metrodome. He was a great showman! But the intimate Riverfest with Wilco was my fav! Thank you for being there!"
Cindy texted about seeing Earth, Wind, & Fire in 1976 at the old Met Stadium in Bloomington.
"Everyone there stood and danced the whole concert," she said. "Every live concert I've seen had moments of brilliance, but this was a joyful event for everyone there for every minute. I can still feel that energy in my soul!"
Art in Warba remembers the exact date of his best live music experience: "July 7, 1970, at Tanglewood, near my home in the Berkshire mountains of western Massachusetts: Jethro Tull and the Who, singing the rock opera Tommy! PS: So looking forward to Riverfest. KAXE has been a huge part of my life since moving here in 1980!"
KAXE volunteer Brandon Chase also had a memorable experience with Jethro Tull at the St. Paul Civic Center in 1985.
Kevin from Pokegama Lake texted, "Prince at Paisley Park. He started at 2 a.m. We left at 6 a.m., and he was still playing!"
Bill from Big Lake said, "If I have to pick one it would be the Gear Daddies playing at the Elk River amphitheater with the Mississippi River as a backdrop."
We hope to see you Saturday at Grand Rapids Riverfest. Remember, ticket prices will increase the day of the festival.
