Summer is in full swing in Northern Minnesota. Here are some ideas for what to do:
Bemidji
Bemidji Community Theater presents “Out of the Hat” Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. Part improv, a little chaos and a whole lot of fun. Tickets are sold at the door. Reach out to the BCT if you want to be an actor, writer or director.
Blackberry
North Central Minnesota Farm & Antique Association has its 40th annual threshing show Aug.10 and 11, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days at Blackberry Farm, just off Highway 2. Visitors can see agricultural demonstrations, farm animals and much more.
Deerwood
Deerwood Days is Aug. 9 and 10 with games, food and music from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Saturday features a dog fashion show with the Babinski Foundation at noon.
Hackensack
Northwoods Arts Council has its annual Art and Book Festival on Saturday, Aug.10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Hackensack, with 65 artists and 35 authors, craft beer, live music and children’s activities.
Pine River
Hunt Utilities Group and Happy Dancing Turtle will host an open house at the Resilient Living Campus near Pine River on Thursday, Aug. 8, 5:30-7 p.m. Visitors can see the demonstration garden, learn about sustainable building techniques and tour the research facilities.
Virginia
Range Iron Pride Festival is Saturday, Aug. 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Iron Trail Motors Event Center in Virginia with vendors, information booths, food and entertainment.
