The fall season is officially here, and that means it’s time to fit as many activities as possible before winter weather.
Luckily, communities throughout the region are hosting many events to choose from.
So grab your comfiest sweater for my five picks for what to do this weekend to satisfy your artistic cravings.
Northern Escape Venue’s Fall Festival
The Fifth Annual Fall Festival is 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at Northern Escape Venue in Hines, Minnesota.
The event hosts 25 vendors selling jewelry, wood crafts, homemade candles, freeze-dried candy and much more.
There will also be live music featuring Kent Dudley and Bended Knee band.
It’s $5 per person, but children under 5 get in for free.
Drawing from nature
In Park Rapids, there is a workshop “Drawing from Nature” with instructor Chris Tolman guiding you through the process of layering colored pencils to make a realistic blue jay.
The event is 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Armory Arts and Events Center Artists Studio.
The cost for the workshop is $40 with a materials fee of $20.
Coming Home: How Can I Keep from Singing
If music is your thing, there will be a special event at Brainerd High School to celebrate the 150th anniversary at 7 p.m. Saturday with “Coming Home: How Can I Keep from Singing.” There will be a choir made up of anyone who wants to sing, whether you’re a Brainerd High School graduate or not.
The Curt Hansen Memorial Homecoming Concert will be performed at the Gichi-ziibi Center for the Arts.
The event is a free-will offering.
Fall ya’ll
The Nevis Women’s Club presents the arts and crafts show “Fall Ya’ll” this Saturday.
The event is at the Red River Event Center in Akeley and will feature 70-plus handmade and gift vendors.
There will also be a pumpkin patch, bake sale and cash bar.
Bucky’s Hoedown Street Dance
Bemidji State University’s Homecoming Celebration includes Bucky’s Hoedown Street Dance from 9 p.m. to midnight Saturday in downtown Bemidji.
This year’s street dance will feature the tribute band PopROCKS covering artists such as Britney Spears, Paramore and more.
