DNR Wildlife Specialist Pam Perry on Bird Hiking in the Spring

Pam Perry is a retired non-game wildlife specialist for the Minnesota DNR.  She joins John Latimer and Heidi Holtan on the Tuesday Morning Show to talk about birds.  Pam tells us about the birding hikes that took place in May in the Brainerd area.  She reports they were able to see and hear about 30 species during each hike.  Some surprises during the bird walks were the fast leaf-out that occurred making it harder to spot the birds, and the absence of warblers in the area.  Pam and John both report a late spotting of bluebirds this year.

Listen here to learn more about green herons, blue herons, wood ducks, sandhill cranes and even turtles!
