Itasca Woodlands Owners Classes Through the U of MN Extension with Matt Russell

Today we met Matt Russell - Associate Professor/Extension Specialist, Department of Forest Resources Director of Graduate Studies, Natural Resources Science and Management.

The Master Woodland Program believes that it takes years to grow a healthy forest. They teach you how to care for, cultivate, and plan for the future of yours.

The Master Woodland Owner program delivers a comprehensive training curriculum for private woodland owners interested in becoming better stewards of their woods.

Beginning in February, Itasca County residents can join and learn ab out things like trees, wildlife, soils, invasive species and lots more. Find more information and how to register here.

As a mail carrier in rural Grand Rapids, Minn., for 35 years, John Latimer put his own stamp on a career that delivered more than letters. Indeed, while driving the hundred-mile round-trip daily route, he passed the time by observing and recording seasonal changes in nature, learning everything he could about the area’s weather, plants and animals, and becoming the go-to guy who could answer customers’ questions about what they were seeing in the environment.
