Aitkin County has an abundance of golden winged warblers

The Aitkin County Private Woodlands Committee Winter Tour is Saturday December 7th from 8-4:30 at the McGregor Community Center.  The tour is called “Taking A New Look At My Land”.  This day of learning helps us to understand how our private lands are part of a complex landscape, connected to the world.  For instance:

The timber harvested locally plays a part in a global economy. The rain that falls on your head ends up in the Gulf of Mexico The song bird that breeds on your property may fly to South America for the winter.

The workshops includes information on The Basics of Wildlife Habitat, Landscape Level Habitat Planning, tours of field sites and of the main facility of Savanna Pallets

There is a small fee of $20 for the day that includes lunch, coffee, cookies, bus tour and handouts.  Preregistration by November 29th is required - contact Dennis Thompson at the Aitkin County PWC to reserve your spot.  218-927-7364.

This event is sponsored by Aitkin County Private Woodlands Committee, MN Forestry Association, Sappi Fine Paper, American Bird Conservancy with support from:  Aitkin County Land Department, Aitkin County Soil and Water Conservation District, MN DNR, Savanna Pallets.
