KAXE
Concerts taking place Sept. 12-14, 2024 in Northern Minnesota and Wisconsin.

KAXE's weekly list of concerts features Caige Jambor & Eric Haugen, Friday the 13th at Rapids Brewing, Ethnic Fest, Earth Rider Fest and Tim Fast.

It's the weekend after Riverfest and the live music keeps coming. The Setlist this week has multiple festivals, a celebration of Friday the 13th, a recreation of a cult-classic indie album and more.

Thursday night in Bemidji, Caige Jambor and Eric Haugen will be recreating an influential indie album at Rail River Folk School. Neutral Milk Hotel's In The Aeroplane Over The Sea has become a music touchpoint for many with it's mysterious lyrics and eclectic instrumentation. Jambor recently released two solo singles and Haugen is a cellist who has played in Bemidji groups like the Mississippi Sawyers. Music begins at 7 p.m.

Four different bands are playing at Rapids Brewing Co. to celebrate Friday The 13th. Hot Jupiters are a psych rock band from Minneapolis that feature Joshua Parlanti of Mississippi Hot Club and his brother Zachary. Tattletale are a new groove heavy band from Grand Rapids that draw inspiration from Ethiopian jazz musicians like Mulatu Astatke. Steroid Frenzy are an experimental duo that dabble in many areas of extreme music. Rounding out the lineup is Grand Rapids singer-songwriter Mckeon Hugh Roberts, also the bass player for Wild Horses. Music starts around 6:30 p.m.

There's plenty to do throughout Northern Minnesota this week, including a harvest fair in Bemidji and a mental health conference in Grand Rapids.

Malachy started his radio career at a college radio station, where he played weird music in the middle of the night to possibly no one. On a good night maybe his parents were listening. Nonetheless, he was hooked on public radio and is still doing it today. He joined Northern Community Radio in 2022, where he gets to share his passion for local music as Producer of Centerstage Minnesota, an all Minnesota music show airing Fridays at 2pm.
