September is here, and there's still lots going on in Northern Minnesota. Here are some events to check out:
Monday, Sept. 9
- Community Night - 5-7 p.m. at Sampaguita in Aitkin. Free soup supper, arts and crafts and an open mic for storytelling or sharing upcoming community events.
Tuesday, Sept. 10
- Harvest Fair - 2-6 p.m. at Harmony Food Co-op in Bemidji. Live music from Doyle Turner and activities like pumpkin painting after 4 p.m. A mural created by tweens and teens from the Bemidji Boys and Girls Club will be unveiled at 4:15 p.m.
- Grand Rapids Area Freethinkers meeting - 5 p.m. at Itasca Unitarian Fellowship, located between Grand Rapids and Coleraine on Highway 169. OutFront Minnesota will present at 6 p.m. RSVP by emailing grafmn24@gmail.com.
Wednesday, Sept. 11
- The Good Life: A Mental Wellness Conference - 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Minnesota North College - Itasca in Grand Rapids. The conference features over 30 sessions and activities, including comedian Rob Fairbanks and music and conversation from Sam Miltich.
Thursday, Sept. 12
- Classic Movie Series - 6:30 p.m. at Edge Center for the Arts in Bigfork. This month's film is To Kill a Mockingbird.
Friday, Sept. 13
- Lady Justice, a panel discussion celebrating gender equality within Minnesota's judicial leadership - 4 p.m. at Minnesota North College - Virginia
- 70th Annual North Star Expo - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Itasca County Fairgrounds
- Staged reading of Pen to Heart - 7 p.m. at Wild Rose Theater in Puposky
Saturday, Sept. 14
- 70th Annual North Star Expo - 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Itasca County Fairgrounds
- Creativity kit giveaway - 10 a.m. to noon at Crossing Arts Alliance in Brainerd. Kits include two art projects and a coloring sheet. There is a limited amount of free kits available, and it is first come, first serve.
- Staged reading of Pen to Heart - 7 p.m. at Wild Rose Theater in Puposky
Sunday, Sept. 15
- Mississippi Headwaters Audubon Society's annual celebration - 6:30-8 p.m. at Neilson Spearhead Center near Bemidji
