Blues guitarist Mike Munson will be at Big Axe Brewing in Nisswa this Friday at 5 p.m. Munson is a student of the Bentonia school of blues, which has its roots in the music of Skip James. Another chance to see him is the following evening at Rapids Brewing Co. in Grand Rapids.
Fest du Nord is a family-friendly music festival at the YMCA Camp du Nord in Ely. The event runs Friday through Sunday with a stacked lineup of Minnesota musicians like Gaelynn Lea, LAAMAR, Mississippi Hot Club, Little Fevers and more.
Later Friday evening, funky blues band The Jimmys are playing at Rapids Brewing Co. in Grand Rapids. A seven-piece band that includes trumpet, trombone and saxophone, the band is known for its high-octane live shows of blues, R&B, rock and soul. Music begins at 7 p.m.
There is another festival taking place this Sunday at the Mille Lacs Indian Museum & Trading Post in Onamia. The Native American Music and Arts Festival begins at 10 a.m., and will feature Native musicians throughout the day, including hand drummers. Headliner Keith Secola will close out the day.
