GRAND RAPIDS — L&M Fleet Supply announced a planned acquisition of Family Center Farm and Home, a Missouri-based company with seven stores in Missouri and Kansas.
The combined company will operate 20 stores in five Midwestern states: Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Missouri and Kansas.
In a July 21 news release, L&M stated the planned acquisition is meant to strengthen two companies with similar backgrounds and community roots.
“This is not about changing what makes either company special,” stated L&M Fleet Supply Chief Financial Officer Erik Andersen.
Family Center Farm and Home CEO Blake Mills will serve as a new regional president in Missouri and Kansas, according to the release. Additionally, Family Center’s existing locations will continue to operate without a name change.
“Together, we believe we can offer both the convenience customers want and the human experience they cannot get through a screen alone,” Mills said.
L&M Fleet Supply founders James Luthen and Delbert Matteson opened their first store in 1959 in Grand Rapids. The company's distribution center and corporate offices remain in the city today.
