BEMIDJI — A 65-year-old Bemidji pedestrian died Sunday night, June 21, after he was struck by a vehicle.
The Beltrami County Sheriff's Office reported the man identified as Floyd Cloud was hit on Division Street Northwest, west of Bemidji in Grant Valley Township. He suffered multiple injuries and died at the scene.
The Beltrami County Emergency Communications Center received a report of the incident at 10:43 p.m. Sunday. Beltrami County deputies, Bemidji police officers and emergency personnel responded and attempted to save Cloud's life but were not successful.
The driver of the vehicle — 56-year-old Robert Ortez of Bemidji — remained at the scene of the crash and fully cooperated with law enforcement. The sheriff's office reported Ortez had no signs of impairment.
The Minnesota State Patrol responded and is assisting with the crash reconstruction.
The sheriff's office was assisted by the Bemidji Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, North Country First Responders and Bemidji Ambulance Service.
The investigation is ongoing, and no further information was available as of midday Monday.
