WILTON — A two-story apartment building was damaged by a fire in the small community of Wilton on Wednesday, June 10.
The Bemidji Fire Department arrived around 10:30 a.m. to find smoke billowing out of a second-floor window, a news release stated.
Thirty firefighters were on the scene for more than two hours battling the blaze. No firefighters or residents were injured, but the involved apartment sustained significant damage. The rest of the building was moderately damaged by the fire.
According to the fire department, the fire is under investigation but appears to be accidental.
At least two families have been displaced by the fire.
BFD was assisted by North Country First Responders, Bemidji Ambulance Service, Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office, Ottertail Power Co. and Red Lake Housing.
