MOOSE LAKE — A Moose Lake area doctor was recently installed president of the Minnesota Medical Association.
Dr. Dania Kamp, of Sturgeon Lake, is the 160th physician to hold the title.
Kamp practices family medicine as the physician-owner of Gateway Family Health Clinic in Moose Lake, where she has practiced for 22 years. She also works rural emergency room shifts in Grand Marais and Two Harbors on the weekends.
In a news release, the Minnesota Medical Association stated Kamp has been active with the organization since joining in 2012, serving on its board of trustees and several committees.
"At her inauguration, Kamp pledged to advocate for patients, and serve as a voice for Minnesota’s physicians, residents, and medical students," the release stated.
"Kamp has lived in Minnesota her entire life, apart from her three years of residency training at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland. Her career in rural medicine has given her firsthand experience with the healthcare challenges facing Minnesota communities."
Kamp's term began Thursday, Oct. 1.
The group is a nonprofit association representing physicians, residents and medical students.
