Burnsville man drowns Saturday in Crow Wing County's Little Emily Lake

The 29-year-old Cody Kent, 29, was with friends and family May 30, 2026, at Little Emily Lake Park. This is the second drowning in the lake this spring.

EMILY — A Burnsville man drowned Saturday, May 30, in Little Emily Lake.

Cody Kent, 29, was at Little Emily Lake Park with family and friends when the incident occurred, according to the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office.

In a news release, the sheriff's office said witnesses reported Kent had swum out into the lake before disappearing beneath the water. A friend located him underwater, and Kent was removed from the lake.

Emergency responders were dispatched and undertook immediate rescue efforts, but the man was pronounced dead, according to a news release.

The sheriff's office is investigating.

This is the second drowning in Little Emily Lake this spring.

A Morris college student, 19-year-old Cameron Walker drowned in mid-May while paddleboating.
