GRAND RAPIDS — A man died after crashing into trees in a pickup truck during the early morning hours of Thursday, April 30, in Grand Rapids.
In a news release, the Grand Rapids Police Department reported it was dispatched to the serious injury crash at 1:14 a.m. on the 1600 block of Golf Course Road. Law enforcement arrived to find a Ford F-150 had left the roadway and struck multiple trees.
First responders provided immediate medical care to the sole occupant. The victim was pronounced dead a short time later. On Friday, authorities identified the victim as Andrew Coy Hamlin, 39, of Grand Rapids.
Police reported the initial investigation identified alcohol and speed as factors in the crash. Law enforcement continues to investigate this open case.
"Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the family," the release stated.
