Three rural Northern Minnesotans placed at the state alpine ski meet in Biwabik on Feb. 10, 2026.

BIWABIK — Three student-athletes from rural Northern Minnesota made the podium at the state alpine ski meet at Giants Ridge in Biwabik on Tuesday, Feb. 10.

Brainerd junior Piper Grillo took third, Detroit Lakes senior Tristan Bristlin fifth and Cook County senior Goshi Dimitrov seventh.

The three were among the 14 Northland athletes competing at state.

The Cook County boys were the only rural Northland school to advance as a team. They placed fifth after one of their skiers did not finish.

And: A new bill in the Minnesota Legislature would allow small school districts to shrink their school board size.
