Steelworker Dan Horoshak announced he is running for the 7B Minnesota House seat currently held by first-term legislator Cal Warwas.

EVELETH — Dan Horoshak, a fifth-generation Iron Ranger and a member of USW Local 6860, announced in mid-January that he is running for the 7B Minnesota House seat currently held by first-term legislator Cal Warwas.

“I’ve lived what happens when the mines shut down,” said Horoshak, who lives in Eveleth. “Storefronts close. Families struggle. Young people leave because the opportunities aren’t here anymore. We can honor our past while building a stronger future — together.”

Despite the contributions the Iron Range has made to the state and country, Horoshak said the region has failed to receive the investment and respect it deserves. “It’s time that changed,” he said.

Horoshak outlined his plan to improving life on the Iron Range, including:

  • Strengthening mining and local industries jobs stay here.
  • Investing in trade schools, apprenticeships, and infrastructure so kids can build their lives here.
  • Supporting small businesses and thriving main streets.
  • Expanding access to quality health care, mental health services, and senior care.

“If you’re ready for leadership that listens, works hard, and delivers for you, I’m asking for your support,” he said. “Let’s bring the Range back — for you, for your kids, and for everything we stand for.”
