BEMIDJI — Beltrami County Sheriff Jason Riggs announced his intention to seek a second term in office.
Riggs was first elected in November 2022, and has served since Jan. 1, 2023.
"I have worked for Beltrami County and its communities for over 24 years," Riggs stated in a Jan. 2 news release. "During the first three years as sheriff, I have worked tirelessly for the communities of Beltrami County by fostering better relationships, better transparency and community engagement."
Riggs further stated he was proud of the work he and his team had accomplished during his first term and his wish to see that work continue.
"I have surrounded myself with excellent leadership and committed people who are up to the challenge of continuing to provide excellent public safety," he stated.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. At present, no one has announced a challenge to Riggs' reelection bid.
