Grand Rapids, Mahnomen/Waubun, Fertile-Beltrami and Kittson County Central all lost, despite multiple attempts at fourth-quarter comebacks.

MINNEAPOLIS — The last four Northland football teams’ seasons came to an end Nov. 13-15, in the state semifinals at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

Defending 9-Player champions Fertile-Beltrami lost to top-ranked Hills-Beaver Creek 30-14 on Thursday.

Kittson County Central nearly came back to beat Hillcrest Lutheran Academy on their side of the 9-Player bracket, scoring two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. But the Bearcats fell short, losing 27-21.

On Friday in 4A, Grand Rapids also attempted to mount a miraculous comeback with a two-touchdown fourth quarter that saw the Thunderhawks recover two onside kicks. But Kasson-Mantorville won 16-14.

Mahnomen-Waubun was the last Northland team standing by Saturday. But they couldn’t keep up with the three-time defending 1A champions Minneota, who haven't lost a game since 2022. The Thunderbirds lost 28-14.
