PARK RAPIDS — The Minnesota Department of Transportation will host an open house about the Highway 71 corridor study in Park Rapids on Tuesday, Sept. 30.

The public can visit Park Rapids City Hall between 4 and 6 p.m. to learn more about the study, which will inform the future reconstruction of Highway 71 between Eighth Street and south of 190th Street.

On the project website, community members can also use an interactive map to share where improvements are needed, ask questions and join a Community Review Panel to help shape a new corridor vision.

The project is in its early development stages, with construction expected to begin in 2030.

The reconstruction will update roadway pavement that is nearing the end of its useful life and aims to address tourism congestion, in addition to other safety improvements and connectivity opportunities.
