WRENSHALL — An 11-year-old girl was fatally struck while riding her bicycle in Wrenshall on Friday, Sept. 5.
Carlton County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene on Broadway Street and learned that while riding her bike on the roadway, she was struck by a pickup truck around 5:15 p.m.
Avery Anderson died as a result of her injuries, Deputy Dan Danielson wrote in a Saturday update, despite lifesaving measures at the Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis.
The truck driver, a 49-year-old South Carolina man, did not appear to be impaired and has been cooperating with authorities, according to a release.
The crash remains under investigation.
