Two important holidays coincide this weekend: Mother’s Day and Fishing Opener.
Like every Mother’s Day weekend, moms can fish free without a license Saturday and Sunday, May 10-11, for Take a Mom Fishing weekend.
For the third year, moms can also participate in the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources' free online Minnesota Moms Fishing Challenge.
Join the Facebook group and submit a photo of each fish you catch over the weekend. Everyone who submits at least one fish photo will be entered into a random prize drawing.
The contest runs from midnight Saturday until 11:59 p.m. Sunday.
Prizes are provided by the Student Angler Organization and include Scheels gift cards, Lund gift certificates, a fishing rod and life jackets.
A free webinar from the Women Anglers of Minnesota, Shore and Lake Fishing 101, will also be hosted in the Facebook group at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
