Open to all: Help us create a Northern Minnesota public beach guide

We know our audience members are extremely knowledgeable and engaged in their communities. That's why we need your help to create a list of our region's public beaches.

The KAXE News team is prepping to create a list and accompanying map of as many public beaches in Northern Minnesota as we can.

We know from experience that it can be difficult to find information about public beaches online. We want to help Northern Minnesotans get outside and enjoy as many of the 11,842 lakes that make our state great as possible.

But we need your help. Do you have a favorite beach or are you knowledgeable about your local amenities? Share what you know! We'll use your responses to make a guide that you can use every summer.

Submissions close July 28, 2024. The finished project will be shared later this summer.

Any publicly accessible beach in one of these counties can be shared: Aitkin, Becker, Beltrami, Carlton, Cass, Clearwater, Cook, Crow Wing, Hubbard, Itasca, Kittson, Koochiching, Lake, Mahnomen, Marshall, Norman, Pennington, Polk, Red Lake, Roseau, St. Louis or Wadena.

Please submit one response per beach. If you have difficulty submitting the form or have additional questions, you can send the information to news@kaxe.org.

A note about your information: We won't use your email, phone number or any other information without your permission, which we'll ask for in a couple spots throughout the linked form.

The public beach project is our first Callout — and it won't be the last. We'll continue to pursue projects that not only involve but depend on our audience's submissions. This Callout, and all future ones, will be available at kaxe.org/callout.

We intend to regularly tap you to create stories, maps and other resources to serve the public interest of the communities we care about. Have an idea? Send it our way at news@kaxe.org.

Don't have anything to contribute this time around? That's just fine, but we sure hope the next Callout will be in your wheelhouse instead! In the meantime, we'd love it if you shared this with your friends and neighbors.

Or if you have a news tip that just doesn't fit our project of the moment, don't hesitate to reach out to our news email. We can't do this without you!
