Itasca County area nonprofits and community organizations are invited to submit nominations for volunteers who go above and beyond.

GRAND RAPIDS — Nonprofit and community organizations in and around Itasca County are invited to nominate volunteers for United Way of 10000 Lakes’ Volunteer of the Year award.

“Awarded annually, United Way celebrates the power of volunteerism with the Volunteer of the Year award, honoring inspirational individuals who go above and beyond and give selflessly to make our community a better place,” stated a news release.

The Volunteer of the Year award will be presented at a community celebration and awards ceremony on May 23 at the Timberlake Lodge in Grand Rapids. Submissions must be received by 11:59 p.m. Feb. 28.

“We’re excited to highlight volunteers who give back throughout the Itasca area,” stated United Way Executive Director Kimberly Brink Smith in the release. “We’re committed to strengthening our region’s volunteer force, and what better way to do so than coming together and celebrating those who give back.”
