WALKER — Chippewa National Forest officials announced a project to replace the existing Anway Trail Bridge on the North Country Trail with a new pedestrian bridge.
Contractors will begin work to replace the bridge as early as this week. The bridge crosses the flowage from Anway Lake to Shingobee River.
Contractors will access the site from a nearby forest road for the majority of the project to avoid impacting the Shingobee ski trails.
However, later this month or early next month, crews will access via the ski trails with equipment for bridge pile installation.
The bridge will remain closed until the replacement is in place and deemed safe for use.
