CHISHOLM — A 37-year-old woman and her 12-year-old son are recovering after they were burned over large portions of their bodies in a propane tank explosion in rural Chisholm.
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded Sunday morning, Nov. 5, to a report of a cabin on fire caused by the explosion.
An investigation determined a 20-pound propane tank attached to a heater was being used to heat the cabin.

The woman and her son were inside at the time of the explosion and were able to walk to a neighbor's house to get help. Responders transported them to be treated at Fairview Range Medical Center in Hibbing.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation by the sheriff's office and the State Fire Marshal's Office.
