BEMIDJI — The annual Bemidji Sings vocal competition will be 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8.

Headwaters Music and Arts organized the event at Bemidji State University. Hosted by local singer/songwriter Eric Carlson, the show will feature the talent of amateur vocalists who live, work or attend school in Bemidji. There will be 14 singers in three age divisions: 9-12, 13-20, and 21-plus.

Contestants will compete for cash and prizes, and finalists in the 13-20 and 21-plus categories will also compete for a chance to move onto the statewide Minnesota Sings vocal competition in October.

Judges for the competition will be Zachary Swank, Caige Jambor and NikkiLee Nolden.

To make the event more accessible, tickets will be sold on a sliding fee scale between $5-$20. To purchase tickets or for more information, visit the Headwaters Music and Arts website.

This event is made possible in part by a grant from the Bemidji Area Arts Endowment, a component fund of the Northwest Minnesota Foundation.
