50th Annual O-Bah-Shing Labor Day Celebration Powwow will be in Ponemah Sept. 1-4

The celebration will include numerous dance specials, grand entries, parades and more on the Red Lake Nation.

PONEMAH — The 50th Annual O-Bah-Shiing Labor Day Celebration Powwow will be Sept. 1-4 in Ponemah.

Grand Entry is scheduled at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, with more grand entries at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, with a final grand entry slated for 1 p.m. Monday.

Powwow specials will be Saturday through Monday, including men’s traditional, men’s fancy, men’s woodland and women’s fancy, women’s traditional, and old style and contemporary jingle dress.

Arena directors are Mark Kingbird Sr. and Harlan Stillday. Masters of ceremony are Keveon Kingbird and Howie Thompson.

The four-day celebration will also include a “Rez Car” contest, kiddie parade and Labor Day parade, with numerous booths and concession stands available to browse and meals provided Saturday and Sunday.
