Wildflower walks among Lake Bemidji State Park events this month

The program “Wildflowers: Vibrant and Vital” will take place 1:30-3 p.m. July 14 and 10:30-noon July 29.

BEMIDJI — Two events this month at Lake Bemidji State Park will feature the colorful, blooming wildflowers and their importance in the local ecosystem.

The program “Wildflowers: Vibrant and Vital” will take place 1:30-3 p.m. July 14 and 10:30-noon July 29.

Meet at the beginning of the bog boardwalk by the trailhead sign. Organizers say to bring water, supportive shoes and bug spray.

Other activities planned at the park this month include:

  • The Story Tree — Baby Bear Discovers the World: 10-10:45 a.m. Thursday, July 6, at the amphitheater. 
  • Busy Beavers: 11 a.m.-noon Friday, July 7, at the playground. 
  • Yoga at the Beach: 9-10 a.m. Sunday, July 9, at the beach by the fishing pier. 
  • The Story Tree — Bee: 10-10:45 a.m. Thursday, July 13, at the amphitheater. 
  • Bog Walk Scavenger Hunt: 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, July 15, at the bog walk trail. 
  • Creeping Caterpillars to Beautiful Butterflies: 1:30-2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 15, at the playground. 
  • The Story Tree — Over in the Forest: 10-10:45 a.m. Thursday, July 20, at the amphitheater. 
  • Archery in the Parks: 2-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, at the West Picnic Area.  
  • The Story Tree — Over and Under the Pond: 10-10:45 a.m. Thursday, July 27, at the amphitheater. 
  • Pond Critters: 1-2:30 p.m. Friday, July 28, at the marina. 
  • Nature Games: 2-3 p.m. Saturday, July 29, at the playground.
