GRAND RAPIDS — KAXE has a new reporting intern for the summer of 2025.
Dani Fraher started the KAXE News Team's Report for Minnesota intern on June 2. They will be reporting on local news in Northern Minnesota through Aug. 8.
Through Report for Minnesota, the University of Minnesota Twin Cities' Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communication connects rural news outlets with journalism students who need more experience in the field.
Hailing from Eagan, Fraher just finished their third year as a journalism major at the UMN. They are also majoring in Spanish with a minor in linguistics.
In their first weeks at KAXE, Fraher reported on the Minnesota Wildfire Academy, focusing on the impact of the Brimson Complex fires and the staffing and recruitment issues wildland firefighting agencies face.
They also contributed to writing and voicing some of the stories in the Up North Report, where you'll hear them throughout the summer.
“This station, my impression so far is that this is something really special,” Fraher said in their introduction on the KAXE Morning Show. “I feel really honored to be here.”
