State Rep. Jim Joy will serve a third term in the Minnesota House of Representatives after a rematch against his 2024 opponent, Thaddeus Laugisch.

State Rep. Jim Joy, R-Hawley, will represent parts of Becker and Clay counties for a third term in the Minnesota House of Representatives.

The 49-year-old business owner was first elected in 2022, flipping the seat red after redistricting and the retirement of 11-term DFL incumbent Paul Marquart.

Tuesday's election was a rematch of 2024. In that election, Joy received roughly two-thirds of the vote, beating 42-year-old small business owner Thaddeus Laugisch of Kragnes Township.

State House District 4B includes portions of Becker and Clay counties, and includes some townships around Moorhead as well as the cities of Audubon, Glyndon, Hawley and Detroit Lakes.
