Republican U.S. Rep. Michelle Fischbach defeated Democratic challenger Erik Osberg to return to the House of Representatives for a fourth term.
The Associated Press called the race at 10:08 p.m., after only 37% of votes had been counted.
Fischbach, 61, of Regal, was first elected in 2021. She previously served as the 49th lieutenant governor of Minnesota and also served in the Minnesota Senate and was the Senate's first woman president.
Osberg, 54, of Wadena, is a first-time candidate who earned the party endorsement over state Rep. Heather Keeler of Moorhead. He works as a coordinator for the Rural Rebound Initiative in Otter Tail County, which aims to recruit new county residents.
Minnesota's 7th Congressional District spans the state's western border, including all of Wadena, Polk, Pennington, Red Lake, Norman, Marshall, Roseau and Kittson counties and part of Becker and Hubbard counties.
