BEMIDJI — Republican Bidal Duran successfully defended his state House District 2A seat against DFLer Reed Olson on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
He previously squared off with Olson for District 2A in 2024, when Duran defeated the DFLer by less than 900 votes to clinch his first term. The margin of victory was significantly slimmer this year for Duran.
Duran is a former law enforcement officer and U.S. Marine Corps veteran from Bemidji. Olson is the executive director the Nameless Coalition for the Homeless.
House District 2A includes Lake of the Woods County and most of Beltrami County, as well as a portion of Clearwater County. It includes the cities of Bemidji and Baudette, and the tribal communities of the Red Lake Nation.
Duran will begin his second two-year term in January.
