Andy Schaefer beat incumbent mayor Jennifer Carnahan in the Nisswa mayoral race.
Schaefer is the co-president of Schaefer's Foods. His two-year term will begin in January.
Carnahan is a small business owner. She was first elected Nisswa's mayor in 2024.
She was censured and stripped of her committee assignments by the City Council in January, after declining to resign in December.
Carnahan accused a Nisswa resident of assaulting her outside of a business during the city’s holiday lighting event in November. Prosecutors declined to bring any charges twice.
Carnahan was also scrutinized for allegedly having a loud conversation about how to remove fellow Council member Jesse Zahn at a Nisswa restaurant.
Carnahan was ousted as chair of the Minnesota GOP in 2021 over allegations of creating a toxic workplace, as well as her connections to convicted sex trafficker Anton Lazzaro.
Zahn was successful in his reelection bid on the city council for another four-year term. Newcomer John Ryan will join him on the Council for a four-year term in January.
