The End of an Era mural by William Defenbaugh

The creative spirit is strong in northern Minnesota and here at Northern Community Radio we celebrate it!  On the First Friday of every month, our Area Voices segment connects you with the arts events happening around the listening region.  We talk with  Katie Marshall from the MacRostie Arts Center in Grand Rapids, Molly Olson from the Ely Folk School, and Katie Carter, Northern Community Radio's Area Voices Producer,  in Bemidji.  From award winning McKnight ceramics artists to bent willow chair making classes, a fiber art studio cruise and public art seeking, arts experiences abound this month.

We'd love to know what arts experiences you've been a part of, how it impacted you, or even what public art you've been noticing around your neck of the woods!  Send us an email with an image!

Katie Carter started at Northern Community Radio in 2008 as Managing Editor of the station's grant-funded, online news experiment Northern Community Internet. Since 2016, she's produced Area Voices showcasing the arts, culture, and history stories of northern Minnesota. She's our local host of NPR's All Things Considered and CBC's As It Happens every weekday from 4-7pm.
