The Indigenous Environmental Network (IEN) is an environmental justice organization focused on indigenous communities, their water, land and sacred spaces.  In Bemidji, the IEN is housed at the Rail River Folk School.  Together, Rail River and the IEN are constructing  a yurt that will be used for taking sustainability to the next level.  It will be provide a space to learn about emerging, alternative energies infused with  indigenous cultural values and both indigenous and non-indigenous technologies.  The base is finished and the walls are going up tomorrow.   They invite anyone to come to Rail River Folk School to check out the yurt building process, lend a hand or just support the effort this Saturday, March 25.  Walls will start going up at noon and the production will go on all day.  If you've ever wondered about yurts or yurt construction, this is an opportunity to check it out.  Live music  by Cory Medina, Annie Humphrey and Thomas X & Friendswill follow at 6pm.
