Who got you into music?
Me. Hearing the music of the '60s, cuz that’s how old I am. And my children, who are close to 50 with excellent taste.
Most memorable concert or festival?
That’s like asking who your favorite child is. In my younger years, Pink Floyd. After that, ALL the Prince concerts I saw in the beginning of his career 'til it’s desperately sad end.
Tell us about your favorite KAXE memory.
My life for the last 30 years has been KAXE. There are way too many to choose from. The first Riverfest at the library with Wilco and the second with Isbell and Amanda Shire, but all the previous Riverfests at KAXE were so fantastic. The bands. Oh! One more standout was Martin Sexton at the big tent at KAXE with roughly 50 people.
Favorite fellow on-air DJ at KAXE?
Curt Randa
What hobbies do you have outside of DJing?
Movies
What's a musical ick for you?
Repeating a line or chorus over and over and over again (see where I’m heading here).
Prince or Dylan?
BOTH
KAXE is turning 50 in 2026! Why should KAXE exist for another 50 years?
At this point in my 30 years of monetary support for KAXE, it's not support, it's an undying love and commitment.
Julie's Dark Side of Love
In honor of KAXE turning 50, we asked our volunteers to send us a playlist of songs that help tell their musical story.
Julie famously hosts the Dark Side of Love every year in honor of (or in spite of?) Valentine's Day. Check our her playlist of anti-love songs here to play on your preferred streaming platform.
