Album of the Week: I Am the Moon (Parts 1 & 2) by Tedeschi Trucks Band

I've always wanted to be a fly on the wall during a band's process of writing and recording an album. What are the dynamics in the room like? How do ideas get shot down? Are the members comfortable with bringing up strange, out-of-the-box ideas? The newest undertaking from Tedeschi Trucks Band is a four-album concept release, putting one album out on a monthly basis. For the creation of the 24-songs, the 12-piece band (!) wrote them collectively and collaboratively, contributing their own perspectives on the work. (I.E. FLY ON THE WALL.)

Led by Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi, the band has mastered complex instrumentation in southern rock, blues, sneaking into jam territory, filled with horns in songs that build. Inspired by a Persian poem, vocalist Mike Mattison presented the concept for this album to the band and they were on board.

Take a listen to our album of the week by listening to KAXE/KBXE!
