October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Mandie Alto is the Executive Director at Advocates for Family Peace in NE MN and she joined us to talk about the rise in domestic violence during the pandemic and how to help the people in your life who may be struggling.

The MN Coalition for Battered Women reported: October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Fatal incidents of intimate partner violence increased over 40 percent in 2020, according to the latest report from the groupViolence Free Minnesota. It mirrors national trends during the COVID pandemic.

At least 30 Minnesotans — including 20 women, one man and three children — died in domestic violence homicides last year — the highest number since 2015.

Victims ranged in age from 72 years to 20 months.
