Bomba Estereo is a duo from Colombia made up of Simon Mejia and Liliana Saumet. The band just released their 6th album, Deja, which is about the connection between people and the environment.
When the band started out years ago, they wanted to make electronic music that reflected their culture, heritage and sounds. What they have created over the years is dance music that includes cumbia, salsa, merengue, tropical and Caribbean, champeta, and folk music from their homeland. Mejia calls their music 'an Indigenous futuristic kind of civilization.'
