Sept 10 - Sept 16 Long Time Coming by Sierra Ferrell

Sierra Ferrell - Long Time Coming
bandcamp

The debut album from Sierra Ferrell, Long Time Coming, proves the point that in 2021, you don't have to stick to one genre. With vocals strong enough to take her into any endeavor, Ferrell plays around with bluegrass, ragtime jazz with a hint of Delta blues throughout.

For much of her mid-twenties, Sierra Ferrell channeled the lives of early folk singers, singing in boxcars and busking on the streets of New Orleans and Seattle. Then with a turn that is most certainly not a story of Woody Guthrie or the like, a video of her singing was posted to You Tube, and she became internet famous. Her voice captivated people like Todd Snider and Sturgill Simpson - they knew she was a rarity.

There is a remarkable guest list on Long Time Coming, with musicians like Billy Strings, Sarah Jarosz, Jerry Douglas, Tim O'Brien and more. Hear more from our album of the week by Sierra Ferrell when you listen to KAXE/KBXE!
