Boozhoo Nana Boozhoo: Bigfoot is called Sabe

Today on Boozhoo Nana Boozhoo they talk about Bigfoot. “Sabe” is Ojibwe for the mythological creature and the symbol for Honesty in the Seven Grandfather Teaching.  Natasha and Nana Boozhoo give “Sabe” or Bigfoot a call on the telephone.  They also tell us about the 18th Century Ojibwe Chief Bigfoot who was called, "Ogemaa Mamaangezide".

Boozhoo Nana Boozhoo teaches us Ojibwe words to use during a fundraiser. They ask people to “Daga Bami” / Please Support, and they ask that you become a member and “miizh zhoonia” / give money.

Boozhoo Nana Boozhoo and Natasha (created by Michael Lyons) join in our annual spring fundraiser by asking in Ojibwe with hope “bagosendam” that you will become a new member of KAXE/KBXE.   They remain hopeful “ombendam” that you will join by donating money “zhoonia” by calling 1-800-662-5799 or going to kaxe.org.

This week on Boozhoo Nana Boozhoo we learn to say the month of April in Ojibwe.  Iskigamizige-gizzis is the Sap Boiling Moon – April.  We also learn how to say aunt in Ojibwe.  Inzigos is your aunt on your mom’s side and Ninoshenh is your aunt on your dad’s side.  Zhiiwaagamizigan is syrup in Ojibwe.
