New book recommendations from Tracy Kampa

Grand Rapids Area Library children's librarian Tracy Kampa reviews and recommends new children's books of interest for "What We're Reading."

On the latest installment of What We're Reading, Grand Rapids Area Library children's librarian Tracy Kampa reviewed new picture and middle-grade books.

Kampa reported dog books are big in libraries and a recent weeding of the Grand Rapids Area Library children's collection revealed high check-out numbers for dog books. She recommended the new nonfiction picture book Dogs: a History of Our Best Friends, written and beautifully illustrated by Lita Judge.

Kampa also recommended the following books:

  • Take a Chance, written and illustrated by Sujean Rim,
  • When Clouds Touch Us, by Thanhhà Lai, and
  • Elf Dog and Owl Head, written by M.T. Anderson and illustrated by Junyi Wu.
