Events Up North Nov. 9-15: Honoring veterans, local theater in Gilbert and Bemidji

Events this week include an event for Native American Heritage Month in Chisholm and a holiday decor swap in Pine River.

Here's what's happening this week in Northern Minnesota:

Native Stories in Mixed Media - 6 p.m. in the Giinawind Creative Space at MacRostie Art Center in Grand Rapids. Hear from three Anishinaabe educators and artists.
Purse Bingo - 6-8 p.m. at Clancy's Restaurant at Vacationaire Resort in Park Rapids. Proceeds benefit Kinship of the Park Rapids Area.
"Melodic Juxtaposition" - 7 p.m. in the Chalberg Theater at Central Lakes College in Brainerd. It's a concert featuring the Raider Jazz Collective, Raider Concert Winds and the Central Lakes Jazz Orchestra. Tickets are $10 at the door, free for CLC students.

Bemidji Adventures in Lifelong Learning - 10-11 a.m. at Bemidji Eagles Club. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. for refreshments. This week, Janice Haworth will give a talk called "My Nat Geo Trip."

Veterans Day program - 1:30 p.m. at Robert J. Elkington Middle School in Grand Rapids
Hope House 46-46-46 Fundraiser - 2 p.m. Wednesday-noon Friday, Nov. 13. This 46-hour fundraiser aims to raise $46 from each donor to celebrate 46 years of being a community support program for adults with mental illness in the Bemidji area.

The Wizard of Oz - 7 p.m. at Bemidji High School auditorium. Tickets
Private Lives - 7 p.m. at the Gilbert City Auditorium. Presented by Stages of the Range Players. Tickets

Artist reception - 5-7 p.m. at Watermark Art Center in Bemidji. Meet Dawn Rossbach and see her exhibit "The Blind Mind." Rossback will give a brief talk at 5:30 p.m.

Holiday & Seasonal Decor Swap - 9 a.m.-noon at Happy Dancing Turtle in Pine River
Maamawai Giwii-Kikendamin (Together We Learn) - 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Minnesota Discovery Center in Chisholm. Schedule of events
Yoga with Kelly - 10 a.m. at Klockow Brewing in Grand Rapids. Freewill donations will support KAXE.
Artist reception - 2-4 p.m. at Watermark Art Center in Bemidji. Meet Anna Johnson and see her exhibit "Aandakiiwan: The Seasons Change." Johnson will speak at 2:30 p.m.
Hunter's spaghetti feed - 4:30-8 p.m. at Jacobson Community Center. Meat raffle at 5:30 p.m. and pie auction at 6:30 p.m.
