Events Up North Oct. 12-18: Family forest day in Bemidji, forest scavenger hunt in Grand Rapids

Events this week include Indigenous Peoples Day events in Bemidji, Grand Rapids and Brainerd, plus a few local theater productions.

Here's what's happening across Northern Minnesota this week!

Monday, Oct. 12

  • Indigenous Peoples Day events - 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Sanford Bemidji. Darryl Kingbird will give a blessing at 10 a.m. in the east lobby, followed by an artist vendor show. A traditional bison meal will be served in the cafeteria from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
  • Indigenous Peoples Day presentation - noon-1 p.m. at Chucker Auditorium on the campus of Minnesota North Itasca in Grand Rapids
  • Indigenous Peoples Day celebration - 4:30-7 p.m. at the Gichi-ziibi Center for the Arts at Brainerd High School
  • 100+ Women Who Care Itasca giving event - 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Timberlake Lodge in Grand Rapids. Registration begins at 4:30 p.m., with the event starting at 5:30 p.m. sharp.

Tuesday, Oct. 13

  • Bemidji Adventures in Lifelong Learning program - 10-11 a.m. at Bemidji Eagles Club. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. for refreshments. Bonnie Lundorff will give a talk called "Exploring Vintage Textiles: 1869-1960s."

  • Blithe Spirit - 7 p.m. at Pequot Lakes High School Auditorium. Presented by Greater Lakes Area Performing Arts and Pequot Lakes Community Theater. Tickets

  • Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street - 7 p.m. at the Chalberg Theater on the campus of Central Lakes College in Brainerd. Tickets

Saturday, Oct. 17

  • The Great Fall Forest Scavenger Hunt - 11 a.m. at the Forest History Center in Grand Rapids
  • Family Forest Day - 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Apple Blossom Village in Bemidji. This event features a campfire, free meal and lacrosse demonstration, along with nature-based crafts, games and activities.
  • Last Look at the Mineview - 1-5 p.m at Hull Rust Mineview in Hibbing. Enjoy fall activities while taking in one last view before the site closes for the season.
  • Zombie Pub Crawl - 5-10 p.m. in downtown Chisholm. Hosted by Chisholm Chamber of Commerce. Tickets
  • Blithe Spirit - 7 p.m. at Pequot Lakes High School Auditorium. Presented by Greater Lakes Area Performing Arts and Pequot Lakes Community Theater. Tickets
  • Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street - 7 p.m. at the Chalberg Theater on the campus of Central Lakes College in Brainerd. Tickets
  • Mesabi Symphony Orchestra concert: Brahms & Schumann - 7 p.m. at Rock Ridge High School. Tickets
