IRONTON — Mountain biking has gotten quite popular on the Cuyuna Range in recent years. If you've never tried the sport, it may feel intimidating.
The Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Crew wants to change that, especially for women. Saturday, May 2, is International Women's Mountain Bike Day, and there's an all-day event just for women at Miner's Mountain Rally Center in Ironton.
"We don't care what you ride, how you ride, how long you've ridden ... just come and be there," said Shae Rossetti, managing director of the Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Crew, in a recent Bright Spot conversation on the KAXE Morning Show.
Lori Vosacek, program lead for the Cuyuna chapter of Little Bellas, joined us as well.
Little Bellas is a national organization with over 100 chapters across the country. Their motto is, "More girls on bikes."
Vosacek said, "It's really about getting girls outside and doing hard things that they don't really know they can do until they do it."
She went on to say how much confidence she has seen in the girls she mentors and that each year has more and more girls participating.
Listen to our full conversation above to hear about more opportunities with Little Bellas, everything you can expect at Cuyuna's Women's Mountain Bike Day and how to get started in mountain biking.
