Events Up North April 6-12: Breakfast opportunities, community conversations

Events this week include the Classic Movie Series in Bigfork, Train Days in Bemidji and a photo presentation on Argentina in Brainerd.

April is here in Northern Minnesota! Here are some events to check out this week:

Monday, April 6

  • Brown Bag Author Series - noon at Brainerd Public Library. Poet Ryan Vine will speak about his work.
  • Grand Rapids Garden Club meeting - 6 p.m. at United Methodist Church in Grand Rapids. Austin Steere from Itasca County Soil and Water Conservation District will talk about rainwater catchment systems.

  • Cultural Thursday series - noon in the Chalberg Theater at Central Lakes College in Brainerd. Learn about Argentina.
  • Fields and Forest Solar Co-op information session - 6:30 p.m., online. This new co-op will serve Cass, Crow Wing, Morrison, Todd and Wadena counties. Register.
  • Classic Movie Series - 6:30 p.m. at the Edge Center for the Arts in Bigfork. This month's film is Mister Roberts from 1955.
  • Cultural Thursday series - 7 p.m. in room E354 at Central Lakes College in Brainerd. Learn about Argentina.

Saturday, April 11

  • Pancake breakfast - 8-10:30 a.m. at Bemidji Senior Center
  • Beltrami County Master Gardeners' Spring Garden Party - 8:30 a.m.-noon at Evangelical Free Church in Bemidji. $20/person. Register.
  • Animal care supplies swap - 9 a.m.-noon at Happy Dancing Turtle in Pine River. Find a list of accepted and drop-off hours online.
  • Train Days - 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Beltrami County History Center in Bemidji
  • Bear-y Cool Creatures - 1-2 p.m. at Lake Bemidji State Park visitor center

Sunday, April 12

  • Monthly breakfast buffet - 9 a.m.-noon at Buck Lake Community Center, 12 miles north of Nashwauk. $13 for all-you-care-to-eat.
  • Train Days - Noon-4 p.m. at Beltrami County History Center in Bemidji
