Events Up North Dec. 23-Jan. 5: Kids' New Year's celebration in Brainerd, storytelling near Palisade

Events over the next two weeks include two activities at Lake Bemidji State Park, a hockey tournament in Baxter and the First Friday Art Walk in Grand Rapids.

We're wrapping up another busy year in Northern Minnesota. Here are some events to keep you busy into the beginning of 2026.

  • Eveleth Elks Club's annual skating party - 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Hippodrome in Eveleth. Free.

Wednesday, Dec. 31

  • Wonder Trek Children's Museum presents Noon Year's Eve - 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Just for Kix in Brainerd

Thursday, Jan. 1

Friday, Jan. 2

Saturday, Jan. 3

  • Jake Haapajoki Memorial Cup (3-on-3 hockey tournament) - all day at various rinks in Baxter
  • Winter Lecture Series - 1 p.m. at the Forest History Center in Grand Rapids. The topic is "The History of Minnesota's Forests" with retired forest manager Brad Jones.
