Summer keeps plugging along in Northern Minnesota! Here are some events to check out this week, Aug. 19-24.
Cohasset Parks and Recreation has a “Moths and Moons” night hike at 8:30 p.m. Monday with ecologist Courtney Kerns. Meet at Portage Park, bring a headlamp and wear sturdy shoes.
Christopher David Hanson will play at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Cuppoletti Park Building at Silver Lake in Virginia as part of the Silver Lake Stage series. A group hike on the new Silver Lake Trail follows at 7 p.m.
Central Lakes College Performing Arts Center has auditions for several upcoming productions at 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Dryden Theater on the Brainerd campus. Registration is available in advance at clcperformingarts.com, but walk-ins are also welcome. The shows are Radium Girls; A Christmas Carol; It’s Murder, Doncha Know? and The Tell-Tale Heart. They will be staged in fall 2024 and early 2025.
Lawron Presbyterian Church has its 33rd annual “Corn-ival” Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., located on the Scenic Highway north of Bovey. There will be corn, BBQ pork sandwiches and more served, plus games, live music and a visit from an Itasca County Sheriff’s K-9.
There is a car and bike show at Calumet Mine Park on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with food trucks, a swap meet, games and more.
Bemidji Pride 2024 is Thursday through Saturday at Rail River Folk School. Featuring live music, a worship service, drag shows, a comedy show, a community art showcase and more. The family festival is Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. Musicians include Sigrid, Shannon Murray and the Swivets.
